Jon’s Network is a blog for IT directors and network administrators, although I think more vendors and resellers read it than anyone else, which is fine. I cover IT security products and companies from a consultative sales and marketing perspective, with an emphasis on what’s useful for buyers, shoppers and users of that technology.
I aim to provide insights into products on the market that you won’t get from vendors. No market-speak, no buzz-words and no vague terms. If you want honest commentary and informed analysis, this blog has something for you.
What this blog does
- Provides crucial information for people wanting insight into the capabilities, approaches and strategies of both products and vendors.
- Assists those wanting to apply, integrate or shop for new technologies.
- Helps optimize the decision-making process to ensure buyers don’t spend a cent on something they don’t want or need.
Who is Jon?
My name is Jon Robinson. I’ve worked in the IT security space as a reseller for nearly 8 years. It allows me to do something I really enjoy: help customers fix their problems with solutions that work for them. I have a passion for finding the best way to get something done and I try to apply that passion to my customers’ challenges.
Sales Philosophy
My methods are summarized in Charles Green’s Trust Based Selling. Basically, the relationship trumps the transaction. I don’t have quotas and I’m under no great pressure to make monthly or quarterly numbers. I do make my living from transactions, but I focus daily on being useful to my customers and the transactions happen as a by-product of our business relationship.
I work primarily on firewall, web/email security, desktop antivirus, systems management and power management projects. If you want to work together, drop me a line.
